On January 6, 2009, Barb’s office held a big retirement party for Jeff Golland, one of Barb’s longtime co-attorneys. I didn’t know Jeff well, only meeting him a few times, but he was bright and personable. Sometime after his retirement, we helped film his audition for the Survivor TV show. He didn’t get selected but I was impressed with his on-camera skills.
He moved with his family to the Isle of Palms, one of the barrier island developments near Charleston, South Carolina. He also started writing a personal blog recounting his life and travels, Inelegant Musings, and (self-) published a book in 2021, My Time: What Life in Retirement Can Be. I haven’t read the book but maybe I should. He also published a 2012 article in Charleston’s newspaper, The Post and Courier, “Getting lost at home: Bucket-list visit like time travel.” Barb stays in touch with him sporadically, as do Larry, Tony and Marcus.
