Building Pfefferkorn, Part 2

November – December, 2004: Exterior and interior framing, and getting a roof. We have the basics of a house in four months since groundbreaking.

Monday, November 1, 2004

Allie and I stopped by after school. We have floors!

Tuesday, November 2, 2004

We return the next day. We have the first of our walls. We stay for a sunset and I’m very pleased with view.

Wednesday, November 3, 2004

After one more day, the first floor walls are nearly done.

Tuesday, November 9, 2004

We skipped a few days until the next Monday. Things looked pretty similar but the workers were actually framing a lot of the interior walls on the floor.

Wednesday, November 10, 2004

One more day and all of a sudden there was a maze of interior walls. I honestly didn’t realize how much of the house was so many sticks of wood. Take that, little piggy.

Tuesday, November 16, 2004

Work continued on the first floor, getting ready for the second.

Wednesday, November 17, 2004

The next day, we had a floor for the second floor.

I stayed to enjoy another sunset.

Friday, November 19, 2004

Second floor walls start going up.

Sunday, November 21, 2004

More of the second floor taking shape.

Tuesday, November 23, 2004

The angled roof line of Allie’s room starts to appear.

Wednesday, November 24, 2004

Despite the rain, Allie and I check out her new room. Happy Thanksgiving!

Friday, November 26, 2004

Allie and I inspect the house the day after Thanksgiving with a friend of hers. I’m not sure at this point who the friend was.

Friday, December 3, 2004

I waited a week for more photos, though I think I visited the site more often than that. We have the beginning of a roof line.

The Upper Great Room takes shape.

The maze inside.

From the outside, our first real sense of what the whole house looks like. It suddenly looks a lot bigger.

Wednesday, December 8, 2004

More of the roof and interior framing were done.

Friday, December 17, 2004

By the end of the next week, most of the interior framing was complete and we had a substantial portion of roof. Let’s take a walk around the front from the garage to the other side.

And now the back.

Inside, on the main floor.

Upstairs.

And down to the main floor again.

Getting artsy with the moon and our rooflines.

Friday, December 31, 2004

Putting finishing touches on the roof. I loved the curved parts in the front.
