Austria Ski Trips

These photos come from an album that Gerry Carleton put together and gave eventually to Barb. Gerry was a teacher at the American International School in Dusseldorf.

This post covers two trips, one in February 1972 to Sachrang in Germany and a second February 24 – March 5, 1973 to Ried im Zillertal, Austria. There are also a set of later (1998-2003 or so) Christmas photos and notes from Betsy and Barb that Gerry saved. Also some bonus shots from a 1974 Model UN trip to The Hague.

1972 Trip – Sachrang, Germany

Sachrang is a small town in Bavaria, very near the border with Austria, about an 8-hour drive from Düsseldorf.

Boarding the bus.

Exploring the area.

Time to ski!

Time for a break.

1973 Trip – Ried im Zillertal, Austria

Fred and Louise agreed to chaperone another trip the next year. Betsy was in 10th grade and Barb in 9th, so this time they all came. Ried im Zillertal is in the heart of Austrian Alps, about 8.5 hours from Dusseldorf.

A set of other skiing pictures — I’m not quite sure if these were all from the same trip.

Final night dinner.

Award ceremonies.

Homeward bound.

Bonus photo: Fisher family in Dusseldorf, with Lily and Britchelino, 1975.

1974 Model UN at The Hague
